Hillsound Equipment - BTR Stool Redevelopment
Hillsound Equipment launched the innovative BTR Stool just before I joined the team. Incredibly lightweight, compact, easy to set up, and comfortable the BTR Stool was a smash hit. However with thousands of units being shipped, we soon realized that improvements needed to be made. We needed to strengthen the stool while keeping it lightweight, compact, and cost effective.
Over the course of the following seasons working with digital simulation tools in Autodesk Fusion 360, warranty reports, and physical testing - we worked on the design and engineering of making the stool stronger. We implemented stronger aluminum alloys, increasing the aluminum wall thickness, improved the design, and even switched to forged internal components. After a couple seasons of improvement the BTR Stool shared no components with the original, was over twice as strong, looked nearly identical, and only gained 17 grams of weight.
